Enrich Your Mind with LearningExpress Library
According to the Arizona Department of Administration, in Yavapai County we have an unemployment rate of 8.8% as of July 2012, a tenth of a point higher than the state average and two-tenths of a point higher than the national average. This is a time for local libraries to step up and assist those looking to reenter the workforce and build their knowledge for career advancement.
LearningExpress Library, an online platform of self-paced learning tools, is one important resource Sedona Public Library is providing to job seekers, in addition to lifelong learners and students. This free database includes a collection of more than 1,000 practice tests and skills tutorials for academic and career advancement, plus more than 200 eBooks. You can prepare for professional certification and licensing, take a practice GED test, or improve your resume and cover letter using LearningExpress Library.
If expanding your technology savvy is in order, LearningExpress Library offers a variety of interactive multimedia tutorials that instruct users on popular software products, graphic design applications, office applications, and operating systems. The computer novice can explore the easy-to-follow, self-paced lessons in PC essentials, Internet basics, and social networking.
LearningExpress Library also offers modules for elementary, middle, and high school students to improve test performance and help with homework. Unfortunately, the database doesn’t include content for each subject at every grade level, so log in to learn more or ask for assistance at the reference desk.
College students and adult learners will find useful tools in this great resource. Acquire personal finance skills, prepare for college placement and graduate school admission testing, or brush up on core subjects like mathematics, English, and science.
The “Recursos para Hispanohablantes” section of LearningExpress Library offers a series of courses that can help Hispanics improve their performance in four major subject areas: English, mathematics, GED preparation, and U.S citizenship test preparedness. Each section is broken down into specific courses. LearningExpress helps illuminate the process for acquiring a green card, as well as providing practice and preparation tools for the U.S. citizenship test.
LearningExpress Library can be an instrument for personal development, professional growth, or academic success, and the full scope of this resource cannot be conveyed in this article. To learn more or to access this database, visit the Library’s website, www.sedonalibrary.org, the next time you’re online. Select “Find Articles & More,” “Databases A to Z,” and then “LearningExpress Library.” Be sure to have your library card number and pin to log in. Create an account and access LearningExpress Library anytime, anywhere you have an Internet connection.
